Good to know: Skidmore assistant professor Heather Hurst -- an archaeologist and archaeological illustrator who was part of a team that discovered the oldest known Mayan calendar -- says the world will not end this Friday, and the Mayans didn't think it would (contrary to persistent hubbub).
