Akum wrote an interesting (and fun) article for the TU about the actual Dutch pronunciations of Dutch-derived place names around the Capital Region.

Interesting! When I correspond with people in the Netherlands, I often point out that this region has Dutch roots. But I didn't realize how many of our place names are either pronounced differently, or are based on an archaic form of the Dutch language.
