Pour your own

A pub in Troy -- Bootlegger's -- is now offering self-serve draft beer at six tables. Noted: there's more to this plan than first meets the eye. Says one of Bootlegger's co-owners of the new pour-your-own tables, to the Record's Andrew Beam: "We're trying to take over Albany and bring everyone to Troy." Your move, Albany. [Troy Record]

"We're trying to take over Albany and bring everyone to Troy"

Cohoes took over Albany a while ago. Set your sights higher. Invade Saratoga.

(1) I don't want to bring everyone to Troy. I love Troy. There is a reason I don't go to Albany for night life.

(2) This has dram shop act liability written all over it.

The end of tipping! A beer during happy hour costs $3 with a $1 tip. Without the tip, that reduces the cost of beer by 25%! Happy days!

So how much is an ounce?
(was it in the article and I just missed it?)

Oh Troy, you're too cute. So naive in your burgeoning bar scene.

Please, please take all these people away. Less for us to have to deal with.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What a sad case. It's very difficult to find a developer with the resources, vision, and commitment to take on a costly and risky project like St. Joe's. It's a shame that the hidebound conservatism of the neighborhood stymied the first and only realistic, pragmatic, and frankly very cool, project to come along in many years. I hope the church and the neighborhood gets one more shot, although I'm not optimistic.
