Coordination
Something to think about the next time you become frustrated by the seemingly uncoordinated or oddly timed traffic lights along a short stretch of road in the Capital Region: Los Angeles has synchronized its traffic signals -- all 4,500 of them (after 30 years and a cost of $400 million). The synchronization was part of mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's campaign platform. [NYT]

How much to sync just Madison, Western, Washington, and Central within Albany? Lets get a Kickstarter going.

@Paul: You forgot Clinton, Henry Johnson, & Lark/Delaware.
Clinton in particular is a cluster#$*&^ and North/South roads matter too.
This is one of my big pet peeves about driving around Albany (that and 787). And it seems like such a no-brainer.
The fact that it's quicker to take 787 to 90 to get from downtown to Westgate is a disgrace.

@Alex- some would say the problem is that 787 makes it too fast to get there and we should rip it out and replace it with a bumper-to-bumper boulevard. Problem solved. You never get anywhere fast again.
