Drawing: Dirty Projectors + Druthers

dirty projectors

Dirty Projectors.

Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

Dirty Projectors are playing at Skidmore this Saturday. We have two tickets and we're giving them away -- maybe to you.

But, wait, there's more. Along with the tickets, we're also giving away dinner for two at Druthers, the new brew pub in Saratoga Springs. That includes: two beers or glasses of wine per person, two entrees, an appetizer, and a dessert.

That's a whole night out in one prize.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

If your projector wasn't dirty, what movie would you show? And where?

This could be pretty much anything. It could be Casablanca on the main stage at Proctors. It could be The Empire Strikes Back on the ESP. It could be Seabiscuit at the Saratoga Race Course. It could be home movies in your backyard. There's no wrong answer.

We'll draw one winner at random.

The Dirty Projectors show at Skidmore starts at 9 pm. The opener is Delicate Steve. Tickets are $20 for the general public.

Druther's, which opened last August, is at 381 Broadway in downtown Saratoga.

Important: All comments must be submitted by 11 am on Thursday, April 11, 2013 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by noon on Thursday and must respond by 6 pm that day.

I would show Twilight on a new moon.

(Because I'm a super-villain, apparently.)

I would project Cabin in the Woods Ina cabin in the woods.

I would show You've Got Mail on my back porch.

The Big Night with an inspired dinner at Cafe Capriccio.

Shaun of the Dead in an English Pub!

I would show What's Up Tigerlily in my backyard.

I'd show Godard's film Breathless (one of my favorites) projected on one of the sides of the Central Warehouse in downtown Albany.

I would show the movie "Freaked" in the mastadon exhibit at the NYS Museum.

The Big Lebowski at a bowling alley

I would turn my yard into a drive in theater and show What About Bob.

Big Lebowski on the Playdium floor.

The Graduate - out by the swimming pool.

Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas, on a drive-in screen in the Saratoga Racino parking lot.
(Might as well use that space for something useful!)

Stealing Beauty in those Tuscan fields.

I'd recreate the premiere of "Ironweed" at the Palace Theater!

I would show the original Bad News Bears, in the Summer, at the baseball field in Porter Corners, NY.

I should show Star Wars at Proctor's Theater in Troy.

American Splendor, nothing like a clean version of Cleveland!

I would show Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines on the front door of an airplane hangar.

Ironweed on Jay Street.

Spice World, projected onto a sheet out on my roof terrace! Because, MEATLOAF!

Blade Runner on the side of The abandoned Central Warehouse

Bowling for Columbine, on a 24/7 loop, on the side of the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure at the Palace!

The Sandlot at the Valley Cats Stadium.

Jaws on the sail of a sailboat, while sailing on the ocean.

Anything involving the Marx Brothers at the Park Playhouse. All. Summer. Long.

Cremaster III scrolling up the sides of ESP

I would show A Night at the Roxbury, at the Roxbury!

Braveheart at Wolff's Biergarten

I'd show the first 3 Alien fiilms at Jumpin Jacks Drive-In!

A couple of Stan Brakhage's short, hand-painted films at EMPAC.

Un Chien Andalou outside of an optometrist's office. Too mean?

Django Unchained

Rocky on an outdoor screen in Saratoga's Congress Park.

"melancholia" on a big screen on a big, well-manicured on a clear, starry, full-moon night.

Wayne's World on my garage door.

Midnight in Paris on 2nd Street in Troy. Right outside of the Confectionery.

I'd like to see a film projected onto the Egg from below. Everyone could lay down and look up at it hovering over them. Maybe 2001: A Space Odyssey or E.T.?

A Little Romance at the Park Playhouse.

Shaun of the Dead at Finnbar's or OEP or City Beer Hall.

The goonies at Washington park.

The Korean Revenge Trilogy by director Park Chan Wook: Old Boy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and Lady Vengeance.

The direct inspiration for Tarantino's Kill Bill series and his other "revenge" films that followed.

Would be great to see them on a "dirty" old fashioned projector

A "Best of" Arrested Development marathon in my backyard.

Bladerunner at Druthers.

My neighbor totoro in my garden

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
