ommegang_hop_chef_2013_badge.pngDrawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

Brewery Ommegang's multi-city Hop Chef series is back in Albany this Friday evening. Blurbage:

An outstanding line-up of Capitol Region chefs will each create one dish showcasing their imaginative beer and food pairing skills. The dishes, all paired with Ommegang ales, will be served to a panel of judges, and to all attendees, to taste and score.

We have a pair of tickets to the event and we're giving them away -- maybe to you. To enter, please answer this question in the comments:

When it's hot and muggy -- like it's been lately -- what do you want to eat?

We'll pull one winner at random. Non-redeemable bonus points for specific and local answers.

Hop Chef Albany is this Friday, July 12 from 5:30-8 pm at the Hilton Albany. Tickets are $55 each. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Schoharie Area Long Term's recovery efforts.

Important: All comments must be submitted by 5 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by 10 pm on Wednesday and must respond by noon on Thursday, July 11.

Mediterranean watermelon salad with crumpled feta cheese, olive oil, red wine vinegar, Vidalia onion, and mint from my garden. So refreshing!

I've been enjoying fresh dill from my garden lately - in salads or mixed with cottage cheese, it is really refreshing in small doses.

Who am I kidding, the most truthful answer is BEER!

A BLT from my garden (the L and T anyway). You can't get more local than that.

Popsicles and caprese salad... Not at the same time.

I love me some Stewart's seasonal ice cream flavors

I like getting creative with salads. Strawberry goat cheese, steak, Cobb, whatever. Make my own dressings and maybe have a nice wine or beer. Whatever has my stove on the least or I can grill outside.

Food? Who wants to eat in this heat? Give me gin and tonics or give me heat stroke! And even then, it's hard to pull myself away from the fan to mix a drink.

Simple & a little bitter, just like this stupid weather: Ice Cold Lemonade.

Kurver Kreme!

ice -cold spicy gazpacho with avocado.

a bowl of strawberries with some light cream. My Grandmother always served those on the hottest days.

A frosty MUGGY of hard cider to make the HOT and sticky weather cool a crispy.

A big ol' ice cream sundae!

An iced coffee from The Daily Grind with a big dish of citrus-y gelato from Crissan.

I don't know why anyone would consider anything other than ice cream. Or Fro-yo or whatever. ICE CREAM.

"What do I want to eat?" My summertime/autumn dinner addiction: A BIG heaping salad [served in a deep dish pie plate] filled with whatever is just picked, fresh out of my organic garden, such as tonight's ingrediants: Arugula, spinach, [a variety of] mustard greens and lettuces, kale, french breakfast radishes, snow & pod peas, broccolli; Top it off with a half dozen almonds and a hard-boiled egg or two. A little while later, a cup of fresh picked raspberries for dessert.
