Buzzfed

Buzzfeed sends Upstate New York through its list-making machine and the result is: "49 Things People From Upstate New York Love." Though, really, a large portion of those things are Albany-area stuff. (Which isn't surprising -- the brothers Stopera are from Niskayuna.)

That list is great. I graduated from Niskayuna in 1978 (Iroquois Middle School too) and if I had made a list back then, it would have had a lot of the same stuff. I've lived in Texas for over thirty years now and I love it. But New York's lakes, SPAC, the track, summer produce, fall foliage, apple picking (not to mention Stewart's and Freihoffers) - they all make for a great place to live. Consider yourselves lucky. By the way, it's good to know that people are still getting drunk in friends' basements and sneaking into drive-ins. And what's up with Ichabod Crane? They closed all the time when I was a kid. They should buy a snow plow.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
