You know trailing candidates always say they don't believe the polls...
The Siena poll conducted for the Rochester Democratic mayor primary missed. Hard. It had the current mayor up 63-27 on the challenger -- the challenger ended up winning 58-41. Don Levy, the director of Siena Research Institute, tells the Democrat and Chronicle what probably happened is that the sample of voters used by SRI didn't match with who actually showed to vote. (In the Albany Democratic mayoral primary, the Siena poll had Kathy Sheehan up 68-20 on Corey Ellis the week before the election. The unofficial result: 66-29 in favor of Sheehan.)

Most likely, pollsters interviewed a sample of voters who turned out not to be representative of who actually showed up, Don "Captain Obvious" Levy said.

Siena also had John Sweeney beating Gillibrand in a big way. Of course, Sweeney steered a lot of money to Siena while he was in congress. Coincidence? Siena gave Jennings a big lead in 2009. And then when the results came in there were excuses once again.
But this? They should get out of the business. That is beyond embarrassing.
