Zombie walk staggers back to Albany

From zombiewalk 2010Zombies are returning to Albany this Thursday to stagger (and dance) from Quackenbush Square to the Palace Theatre. The zombie walk is tagged to the FantaCon horror/comic books/special effects conference this week, and the accompanying series of horror movies at the Palace Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

In previous years, there'd been a zombie walk that made its way up Central Ave -- and some of the costumes were remarkably undead. Last year the zombie hoard migrated to Schenectady in search of fresh brains.

This year's zombiethon in Albany starts Thursday at 6:30 pm with a "Thriller" dance outside Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center. The undead will then make their way up Clinton Ave to the Palace, where there will be prizes for the best zombie costumes, followed by a screening of the original Night of the Living Dead (and panel discussion with cast members). The screening is $13 (ticket required to be eligible for the costume contest). Also: "Following the event, many bars and restaurants throughout downtown will offer drink specials to those in zombie attire."

And good to know: "A Quarantine Zone will be established on the sidelines for those hoping to get a good look at the zombies without risking infection."

Update: Anyone dressed as a zombie gets into the Palace events for free.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
