Up for auction soon: A document that appears to be a letter from the survivors of the 1690 Schenectady Massacre asking for aid (it was addressed to John Alexander Glen (as in the mansion) in Scotia). A rep for the NYC auction house holding the October 10 sale for the doc guesses it will will go for as much as $2,500. The Schenectady County Historical Society would like to have the document, but doesn't have the money for it (though if someone were willing to donate it...) [Daily Gazette] [TU]
