Months ago the TU published thsie facts!
One theatre will seat 400.
That's rock concert ready!
Wonder if the neighborhood will like that?
NOT!

My childhood home was just around the corner on South Main! That theater has been one of my life's main landmarks (along with the stone turtles that used to be outside the Price Choppers). I am glad to see someone breathing new life into the place.

Maybe it is part of Albany folklore, but I seem to remember lighting striking the marquee when they switched it to the whole "Norma Jean" thing... Hope they have better luck this time.

Was this written by a St. Rose journalism student? Did he even proof this?

MG, the fact that the building will eventually contain a 400-500 person concert space is the greatest part of the building makeover. Especially now that Valentines will be downsizing with their new location - effectively ruling out the possibility for national acts. I cannot wait to see what kind of shows they plan on booking. I hope the neighbors will see the value that the venue will add to the community and to Albany as a whole...

I've always loved the Madison - it's so great having a movie theater right in the neighborhood. I didn't realize the renovation would change the theater so much. I'm very excited about the 400-500 capacity room they mentioned. If done properly this can be replace for Revolution Hall which was similar in size (and upstairs at Valentines as was previously mentioned). Is the plan for the Madison to get a liquor license for this space? Yeah, I'm sure the neighbors will be all up in arms because..well..neighbors just love complaining about anything that involves anyone having any FUN, but I for one think this would be great. I really hope this works out.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
