Coy-something
There have apparently been reports of "coydogs," coyote-dog mixes, at the Crossings in Colonie -- though the TU's Chris Churchill reports officials have no hard evidence and the likelihood seems small. There are definitely coyotes in the Capital Region core (the office dog chased one this past winter). And in 2009, two researchers from the State Museum reported that DNA evidence indicated coyotes in the Northeast had bred with wolves at some point, creating bigger, stronger coyotes (or coy-wolves, or maybe wolfotes). I actually don't doubt this to be true. I saw a litter of three coy dog or coyote puppies in the woods near the crossings three years ago . They were maybe 6-8 weeks old.

Offspring from the union of a dog and a coyote, if that could even happen, is genetically impossible. i think people just like to say "coydog".
