Findings on fines

The town of Colonie ranked third in the state for the amount of court fines collected in 2012, according to numbers from the state comptroller's office (the rankings appear to exclude NYC). The Syracuse Post-Standard, which has put together a database and map based on the numbers, reports that traffic tickets make up a large part of these fines, and high-ranking municipalities tend to have large populations and corridors with lots of traffic -- and Colonie would fit right in the category.
