Band of Horses at The Egg

band of horses bw 2013

As it happens, the band includes no actual horses.

Alt/indie rock group Band of Horses is set to play a show at The Egg February 23, according to the band's tour page. Tickets go on sale Monday, December 9 -- they're $37.25 (that includes fees).

Band of Horses emerged from the ashes a previous band around the middle of the last decade with the album Everything All the Time. That album included the song "The Funeral," which you've probably heard even if you don't think you've heard it -- in addition to regular air play, the song's been featured in a ton of other media.

The Band of Horses show is in The Egg's 982-seat Hart Theater. It's being billed as an acoustic show. Also that night: The Wood Brothers in the adjacent Swyer Theater.

I'm not the biggest fan of Band of Horses, but I have to hand it to the Egg for trying something different from the usual fare - will definitely try to go to this show!

Earlier in the week, I got emails from the Bowery (NYC) and Dan Smalls Presents (Ithaca) saying this show was coming to both areas... it's a show that I am interested in, but not enough to travel hours to see. I never expected it to come to Albany - and at the Egg, of all places!

Definitely looking forward to it. Like Mike H. said, I'm really excited that the Egg may be expanding their horizons a bit. (Then again, if this wasn't an acoustic show, would it have been booked there? Hmm...)

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
