The Columbia Journalism review has posted the text of a speech William Kennedy gave an event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the UAlbany journalism program this past fall -- it includes a bunch of interesting bits about his career. But the parts that really caught our attention were about how the political machine co-opted -- and then later went to war against -- the press in the Albany area. [CJR]
For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
