Billions and billions of apples
The president of the New York Apple Association is projecting that orchards in New York State produced more than 34 million bushels of apples this past season -- a record total, and more than double 2012's frost-damaged crop. (The total is roughly equivalent to 4.3 billion apples.) Orchards here produced so many apples, some of the fruit went unpicked and cold storage facilities around the state were packed to the brim. They should/should have have/had some sort of big sale, or free pick-your own, or something. I'd gladly take some of that surplus.
