A rare restaurant policy
Interesting: The new Rare Earth Wine Bar in Glens Falls will have a no-tipping policy, the first such policy in the greater Capital Region, according to Steve Barnes. Instead, employees will be paid as much as $15/hour.
There's been some pushback against tipping in recent years -- some people have argued it's not a fair way to compensate restaurant employees and might even be discriminatory.
Rare Earth -- the ownership of which includes former Chez Sophie owner/chef Paul Parker -- has a soft opening this Thursday (January 9).
