So, the cows get a raise now, right?
Agricultural fact of the day: New York State was the nation's third largest producer of milk last year, according to the Cuomo admin (the USDA hasn't posted official data yet). The Empire State was able to push past Idaho to get back into the top 3. (California and Wisconsin are the top 2 producers, or at least, they have been in recent years.) Also: New York is the #1 producer of yogurt, cream cheese, and cottage cheese, according to the admin. Update: This article by the Gazette's John Enger has some bits on how farmers are getting more milk from cows. [Cuomo admin] [Daily Gazette]
