Farther afield: State attorney general Eric Schneiderman says his office's organized crime task force "executed the largest cockfighting takedown in New York State history" and was "the largest known rescue of fighting roosters in New York's history, and among the largest in United States history." The AG's office says as many 3,000 birds were recovered from a farm in Ulster County. The farm was allegedly a breeding/boarding/training ground for fighting bird owners throughout the Northeast.
