MASS MoCA, doubled
One of the remarkable, unique things about MASS MoCA is just the physical size of the place and its expansive gallery spaces. And the museum is planning to double its size by converting more of the former electronics factory site that it occupies. The expansion would "include the addition of some 130,000 square feet of gallery space, ultimately doubling the space currently available for exhibitions, plus significant work on its performing arts courtyards and other exterior venues." The museum is hoping to score $25 million from the state of Massachusetts to help fund the expansion. (As you know, MASS MoCA is in North Adams, which is just about an hour's drive from Albany.)
