Greek Festival
St. Sophia's in Albany is hosting its annual Greek Festival with food, music, dancers, amusement rides and crafters. Friday, 6 pm to 11 pm. Saturday, noon to 11 pm, Sunday noon to 7 pm. $3, under 12 free.

Niska Day
Saturday is the annual Niska Day, a full day of activities celebrating Niskayuna -- including a fun run, a parade, rides, craft vendors, food and fireworks. the parade begins at 10 am at St. Kateria Tekakwitha -- the event is free admission

Food truck festival canceled
Organizers of Food Truck Festival of NY planned for Troy's River Front Park Friday say the event has been canceled because of weather.

Theater

The God Game
Friday-Sunday: Capital Rep's production of The God Game continues this weekend. The play by Suzanne Bradbeer is about a US Senator nominated for vice president: "There's just one little hitch: he needs to sound just a bit more Christian. Trouble is, Tom is an agnostic, who thinks religion is a private matter, not to be mingled with public life or politics. His devout Christian wife, Lisa, will stand by her man, as long as he doesn't lie on the campaign trail just to get the job." Cap Rep's production runs through May 25. Friday-Sunday various times - $20 and up

Young Frankenstein
Schenectady Light Opera's very funny production of Young Frankenstein ("That's Fronkensteen"), based on the film by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, closes this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm - $18, $22 & $28.

All My Sons
Albany Civic's production of Arthur Miller's All My Sons closes this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, Sunday at 3 pm

Of Mice and Men
Hubbard Hall's production of Of Mice and Men -- based on the John Steinbeck novel, closes this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 2 pm

Pygmalion
Classic Theater Guild'sproduction of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion at the Classic Theater Guild space at 137 State Street in Schenectady. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, Sunday at 2 pm.

Be Scene
Schenectady Civic Theater presents their annual Be Scene night, a showcase night where actors play scenes from some of their favorite shows. Saturday at 7:30 pm

Theatersports Finals
Friday: Mop & Bucket Company's closes its season of TheaterSports -- in which teams of improvisors compete based on audience suggestions. (Think Whose Line is it Anyway?) Friday at 8pm - $14 / $6 students and seniors.

Little Shop of Horrors
The production of Little Shop of Horrors at Cohoes Music Hall is up in the air after the city closed the theater because of concerns about electrical wiring.

Film

King Lear
Sunday: The Spectrum presents the London National Theater presentation of King Lear, starring Sam Mendes. Sunday at noon - $15 / under 12 $12

Just Shoot Me
Friday and Saturday: The Saratoga Film Forum is screening Elaine Stritch: Just Shoot Me, the documentary about the Broadway legend (and Alec Baldwin's 30 Rock mom) who recently retired from a longstanding gig at New York's Carlisle Hotel. Friday and Sunday at 7:30 pm $7/$5 members and students.

The Conversation
Saturday: The Saratoga Film Forum's classic series is screening Francis Ford Coppola's 1970s film The Conversation. "Made between the first two "Godfather" films, it was a return to small-scale art-house films and was something of an homage to Antonioni's art-movie classic "Blow-Up" (1966). Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) is a sound surveillance expert, hired to track a young couple (Cindy Williams and Frederic Forrest) and secretly tape their conversations. As he listens to the recordings, however, Harry comes to believe that he has uncovered a plot to murder the couple." Saturday 7:30pm

Tim Burton Festival
This weekend, The Madison is hosting a Tim Burton Festival, with screenings of Beetlejuice, Batman, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

+ The Hollywood is showing Godzilla and Transcendence
+ The Jericho is screening The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Robocop.
+ The Malta Drive-In is screening Godzilla and Spiderman on screen 1 and Neighbors and The Other Woman on screen 2.

2014 American Music Festival
The Albany Symphony Orchestra celebrates American music at venues around the Capital Region this weekend:
+ Friday: The Dogs of Desire, ASO's classical chamber music rock band, performs at EMPAC. Friday 7:30pm - $25
+ Saturday: Members of the ASO will perform at the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market.
+ Saturday: The < ahref="http://www.albanysymphony.com/concerts_and_tickets/event_details.cfm?ID=131">full festival orchestra is performing at EMPAC with percussion Evelyn Glennie. 7:30 pm - tickets are free but reservations are required.

Plant sales

Capital District Community Gardens' Spring Plant Sale
Saturday: The Capital Region Community Gardens is holding its annual Spring Plant sale on at the CDCG Produce Project farm near 261 8th Street in Troy. "Unique varieties of perennials, heirloom tomatoes, a wide selection of veggies and more." Saturday 9 am-1 pm

Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County
Saturday: The Cornell Cooperative Extension Albany County's annual Garden Education Day is at the cooperative extension facility in Voorheesville. Master gardeners will be there for tours and advice, but the big draw is the plant sale. And it's a little bit intense. It's a good idea to show up at the opening (or just before it) if you want the best selection of plants. Saturday 9 am-1 pm

Museums/Exhibits

Jewels of the Sea
Discovery Hall in Troy is open this weekend with their Jewels of the Sea exhibit. A collection of seashells from around the world, including one of the largest horseshoe crabs you'll ever see and shells so small they have to be seen through a microscope. $5, Teens $2, 12 and under free.

It's a wrap
Sunday: The Albany Institute's It's a Wrap closes the mummies family festival with a day of storytelling, face painting and crafts for kids. Sunday noon to 4:30 pm - free with museum admission

Lifestylexpo
Saturday-Sunday: The Washington Avenue Armory is hosting the Lifestyle Expo, which stuff about sports, recreation, and healthy living. Saturday 10am to 6pm, Sunday 10am to 6 pm - $5

Lupine Fest
Saturday: The Albany Pine Bush Preserve hosts the eighth annual Lupine Fest at the Pine Bush Discovery Center. A full day of programs including presentations, demonstrations, music, games, face painting, crafts, guided hikes, pony rides and snacks. Saturday 10 am to 4 pm - free

SPAC Rock & Run
SPAC's annual Rock and Run includes a 5K, 10K and and 1k fun run for kids at Spa State Park. The race is followed by a music festival with more than 20 bands. Sunday starting at 9am - race entry fees $7-$40 / the music festival is free

Classic cars
The Saratoga Auto Museum is hosting a spring invitational auto show. The featured car is the Ford Mustang, commemorating the 50th anniversary. Friday and Saturday 10 am to 3pm in Spa State Park - $10

Saratoga Kite Day
The Saratoga Independent School is hosting Kite Day, a day of kite flying, face painting and other kids activities. Saturday from 10 am to 2pm - free.

Troy Architecture
The Rensselaer County Historical Society is leading a tour through downtown Troy showcasing the architecture of the 19th and 20th Century. departs from the Troy Farmers' Market on Saturday at 10:30 am - $5

Farmers' markets
It's finally here -- farmers' markets have moved outdoors for the season:
+ The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market will be on River Street in downtown Troy on Saturday.
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is at the High Rock Park pavilions on Saturday.
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is around Schenectady City on Sunday.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market will be on the front lawn of the Lincoln Baths Sunday.

Capital Rep, Proctors, Troy Music Hall, The Spectrum, and The Mop and Bucket Company advertise on AOA.
