"We pretty much have a Wild West when it comes to the collection and use of this information"
Over at the Times Union there's an interesting article by Jordan Carleo-Evangelist about the system of license plate readers being used by law enforcement agencies in the Capital Region -- including including a centralized data warehouse of plate sightings being kept by Albany County that contains 37 million entries. These systems -- and the questions prompted by them -- continue to multiply: this past March the Syracuse Post-Standard reported 25 police agencies in the Capital Region core were using them. Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
