"Telling totally imaginary stories set in the really real old days"

troy cartooning party unbelievable history posterCould be fun: Illustrator Ira Marcks is hosting a cartooning art party -- "The Unbelievable History of Troy, New York" -- this Saturday at the Troy Public Library. Blurbage:

WHAT ARE WE MAKING?
We'll be making jam comics (which is like a game of telephone, but with drawing) using characters and events from Troy, NY's crazy history. It's a collaborative drawing project for artist and non-artists to make something unexpected, funny and creative.
AM I TOO OLD FOR THIS KIND OF THING?
NO, you are not. This is an all ages art party for artists of all ages and abilities to work together on something creative. If you are an artist, come by and inspire some kids. If you're a kid, come and show the grown-ups how to loosen up. If you're neither of these things, just come by and have FUN!

The event is from 1-4 pm on Saturday, May 31. It's a drop-in event -- you can stay for a few minutes, or longer. It's free.

You might remember Ira Marcks from... Witch Knots, his book about the town of St. Forget, and his local classes.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
