Free summer concert series schedule 2014

living colour band

Living Colour opens the At the Plaza series this Wednesday, June 4.

The free summer concert series season starts this week with the At the Plaza series at Empire State Plaza on Wednesday. There are a handful of these series around the Capital Region, so we figured we'd make it easier to keep track of them by pouring them all into one schedule one page.

And here is that page...

There's a calendar grid of concerts above -- click or scroll all the way up.

Concert series

The grid above is not a comprehensive listing of free summer concert series. There are a bunch of them, and the grid no doubt is missing some of them. Here are the series included (links include times, locations, and other details):

+ At the Plaza (Albany)
+ Alive at Five (Albany)
+ Rockin' on the River (Troy)
+ Music Haven (Schenectady)
+ Upbeat on the Roof (Saratoga Springs)
+ Freedom Park (Scotia)

Living Colour played at the RPI hockey rink (for some reason called a field house) in the early 90s. They ripped the face off of everyone there. Much as they did at the Lollapallooza tours they were on. This band is amazing when they perform.

Are they 20 years older? Sure. Will they be a step slower. Perhaps. Book them with a double bill with Phantogram and then consider which one is a rock band. I think you know the answer.

Thanks for putting it all together! :)

Bummer, the best act is scheduled against game 1 of the NHL finals tomorrow.

Anyone seen George Thorogood in the recent past? He's got to be getting up there in age...

Don't forget The Egg's FREE Made in the Shade music series this summer! Every Wednesday at Noon outside The Egg on the Plaza.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
