Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer at Troy Music Hall

Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer

Thile and Meyer

Mandolin virtuoso Chris Thile is scheduled to return to the Capital Region October 10 for a show at the Troy Music Hall with bassist Edgar Meyer. Tickets are $27 and up -- they go on sale to the general public Monday, June 16.

Thile has been on fire over the last few years -- earning acclaim with the progressive bluegrass band the Punch Brothers, and being named a MacArthur fellow.

But why stop with just with one MacArthur "genius." Meyer was awarded one of the grants in 2002, and has collaborated with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma.

Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn
Also announced today: Banjoists Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn are set to play a show at the Troy Music Hall October 24. Tickets are $25 and up -- they go on sale Monday, June 16.

Test drive tickets
Something new (or, at least, new to us): The Troy Music Hall is offering "test drive" tickets -- discounted tickets to people who have never a attended a show there before. These tickets are just $15 for the shows mentioned above. Call the box office for details.

The Troy Music Hall advertises on AOA.

The Scoop
