91 tickets in 4 hours
WNYT's Abby Bleck rode along with Albany police Thursday during a crackdown on drivers not yielding to pedestrians. In four hours of the detail, APD says it issued 91 tickets. One of the methods APD used: a plain-clothes officer acting as a spotter for drivers making violations who then called ahead to a police car to make the stop. [WNYT]

Based on my experience as a pedestrian in Albany, if they expand the program they'll be able to entirely fund APD :)

Maybe the APD could add to this crackdown by going after all the cars that constantly double park in the middle of traffic on streets in the city and then leave the car sitting there unattended for 20-30 minutes. I'm sure they could give out dozens of tickets in no time if the cops started citing people for leaving their cars in the middle of the road instead of just passing by lines of double parked cars on Central Ave or elsewhere without doing anything about it.
