The Fourth of July is this Friday (of course). And that means fireworks.

After the jump, a list of places around the Capital Region to catch fireworks this weekend.

Going someplace else for a fireworks show? Please share.

The annual Independence Day display at Jumpin' Jacks in Scotia was June 27.

The Saratoga Casino and Raceway usually has a fireworks display on July 3, but it's forgoing the display this year because there are so many events in town this weekend. Instead, it's sponsoring the Congress Park display (below).

Friday, July 4

Saratoga Springs
Congress Park at 9:30 pm. Part of the All-American Celebration, a whole day of events (including a live reading of the Declaration of Independence right before the fireworks).

Clifton Park
Following the July 4th Celebration at the Common, which includes a parade, music, amusement rides, pony rides and a petting zoo. Fireworks at dusk.

Empire State Plaza
Fireworks at 9:15 pm, part of the annual New York State Fourth of July celebration on the ESP. The events start at 3 pm and includes music, fair food, a double dutch performance and more. The music headliner this year is Felix Cavaliere's Rascals. Find a space early, it gets pretty crowded.

Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy
There will be fireworks following the the ValleyCats game that night. First pitch is at 6:30 pm.

Lake George
There will be fireworks over Lake George, viewable from Shephard Park (map) in the village and other points along shore. Fireworks around 9:30 pm.

Saturday, July 5

Waterford
Fireworks start at dusk as part of the annual Steamboat Meet at the Waterford Harbor Visitor Center and promenade. You can see them from the Waterford quay, the river, and Peebles Island State Park. The festival runs from 9 am to 9 pm, and includes working steamboats, crafts, food music.

Adirondacks
There will be fireworks as part of Speculator's 4th of July Celebration -- parade at 7 pm, fireworks at 9:30 pm. Speculator is a little bit of a trip (map). But if you didn't have the chance to get away during the week, you might take a drive up to the Adirondacks (or if you're already up there for the weekend). It's a cute small town celebration and the lights over the lake are beautiful, especially if you can find a way to see them from a boat.

Saratoga
There will be a display over Saratoga Lake, from the north and south ends. Fireworks start at dusk, between 9 and 9:30 pm.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
