The famous Bolshoi Ballet is at SPAC this week.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, look forward to, or keep busy with this week, from the weather (one for six), to the fair, to The Track, to the Bolshoi, to scientists, to circus, to baseball, to all sorts of music...

Weather

Here's the paraphrased forecast for this week:
Monday: Cloudy, rainy, maybe a thunderstorm. Upper 70s.
Tuesday: Sunny and 78.
Wednesday: Sunny and 80.
Thursday: Repeat.
Friday: And again.
Weekend: And again.

One not great day for six good days.

Schoharie County Sunshine Fair

The Schoharie County Shunshine Fair is at the fairgrounds in Cobleskill through Saturday. $12 for adults, free for children under 12 and under

The Track

It's the second full week of the season at the Saratoga Race Course. Among the events this week: Saturday is the Whitney, one of the top stakes races of the season. (And, of course, there is no racing on Tuesday.)

The Bolshoi

Tuesday: The world-famous Bolshoi Ballet opens four days of performances at SPAC. The touring company will be performing Don Quixote. (And it appears that tickets for some performances are already almost sold out.) various times - $34 and up

FameLab

Tuesday: FameLab will be at EMPAC. What? Blurbage:

Think American Idol...for scientists! FameLab is a panel-judged competition to find the new voices of science across the world. Started in 2005 in the UK, this event is the kickoff to "Season 3" here in the US. Ten young scientists will spin tall-but-true tales of exoplanetary atmospheres, extreme environments here on Earth, the possibility of life on an icy moon in the outer Solar System, and much more - in 3 powerpoint-free minutes each!

The event at RPI is a regional competition and will include 10 scientists. Tuesday 7 pm - free

Theater

Park Playhouse
Tuesday: The Park Playhouse in Albany's Washington Park opens its August production, which is Oliver this year. (It runs through August 16.)

Cap Rep
Cap Rep's production of Smokey Joe's Cafe continues.

WTF
This is the last week at the Williamstown Theatre Festival for the production of Fool for Love, starring Sam Rockwell and Nina Arianda. Some of the performances are already sold out, but it looks like a few still have tickets available.

Baseball

Wednesday: The Tri-City ValleyCats open a six-game home stand at The Joe. And Wednesday is 50-cent hot dog night.

Cirque Éloize

Friday: "Modern" circus company Cirque Éloize starts a run on the main stage at Proctors. This particular show is "iD," which incorporates dance. various times - $20 and up

Music

Monday: Haas Kowert Tice at Helsinki Hudson
"A supergroup of acoustic roots-music talent featuring members of Punch Brothers and Crooked Still that plays a unique blend of bluegrass, folk, chamber-grass and classical." 8 pm - $18 ahead / $20 day of

Wednesday: Eastbound Jesus at Rockin' on the River
With: The Blind Owl Band. 5 pm - free

Thursday: Grand Funk Railroad at Alive at Five
With: Wild Adriatic. 5 pm - free

Thursday: Manchester Orchestra at Upstate Concert Hall
Alt rock. With: The Mowgli's, Brick + Mortar. 8 pm - $17.50 ahead / $21 day of

Friday: Conor Oberst at Brewery Ommegang

"6 hours of a boundary-busting festival finale, featuring more than fifty musicians and composers, chamber music with Glenn Kotche, and Steve Reich's newest composition Radio Rewrite, a remix of two songs by Radiohead." 4-10 pm - $24 / $35 with museum admission

Saturday: Donna the Buffalo at Helsinki Hudson

Saturday: Super 400 at The Hollow
Hometown heroes. With: Off the Record. 8 pm - $10
