Today's moment of summer

(Well, it was from Wednesday, but we'll let it slide.)
Sometimes we walk Otto at the Harriman State Office Campus in the evenings. And on this night it was very much like... a (non-office) park. People were playing basketball. A family was working in the community garden. Kids were riding scooters and bikes. And a handful of people were walking dogs.
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

Having worked on the State Campus for over 6 years now, I have noticed a gradual trend of more and more families, dog owners, or recreationist on the campus during the week day. Before we purchased a home in Albany, we had a community garden on the campus and it was fairly well used over the weekends by bikers, joggers and dog walkers, but this has spilled over into the work week. I would first suspect the Alexander Apartments being the culprit for more foot traffic, but I have a feeling this may also just be the broader trend of folks getting out there (especially those of us of the Millennial generation, who don’t mind a nice walk over to the park to do more walking, or in this case the campus, which is quite like a park if you can ignore the fields of asphalt in-between all the green space). I know on my commute in or out to the Campus by foot, I see a lot folks from the immediate neighborhoods tapping into this previously underutilized asset in the City.
