A good roofing company?

albany rowhouse roofsThis one comes from AOA Mary. We'll blockquote. Because tradition.

We're looking for someone to replace our roof. It's a flat, rubber roof on an historic home. Anyone have suggestions for roofing companies?

There are a lot of roofing companies out there. But we're curious if there are companies that specialize in non-shingle roofing.

Have a suggestion for Mary? Please share!

I replied to your Facebook post but I'll do it again here for discussion. I had a rubber roof put on my house in the mansion hill area by Skyway roofing. When I eventually sold the house the inspector raved about the roof. I would recommend Skyway.

I had a great experience with Ken Youngs at Sealed Right (518-272-3038; sealedright@yahoo.com).

He delivered on a job quickly after the free estimate, on time and on budget. He even sent me pictures of the before and after, which was helpful because my roof is difficult to gain access to.

Not quite what you're looking for but if anyone needs someone who handles slate, I have to rave about Larry London (518-705-6048). He has done a great job on our 100 year old roof whenever we've had a problem and his prices are very good.

I also have a flat roof in Albany - and had bad service from Varden Brothers - do not call these clowns.

I had a few roofers come out to check out my place and 2 out of three told me how bad it was and that I should get it done before it started leaking, yada yada yada. The third guy, Home Evolution, told me the roof was fine and to call him in about 5 years. I don't know if he's the least expensive but he's honest and the reviews on Anglie's list are great.

One comment... Do not use Jerry Daguillo. We had a horrible experience with him and while his father Jerry Senior was great. Jerry Jr. now runs the show and well... it is hit or miss.

Updating this with Larry London's new number as AOA has driven a good amount of business his way. And he's still the only guy I call if I have any issues with my roof. He's good people. His new number is 518-866-3355.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
