This is the last week for Capital Rep's production of Other Desert Cities. It closes Sunday.

Much Ado About Nothing
Wednesday: The American Shakespeare Center will be presenting a production of Much Ado About Nothing at UAlbany as part of the NYS Writes Institute fall series. "American Shakespeare Center's production of Much Ado About Nothing will be presented in classic Shakespearian style with actors playing multiple roles and surrounded by the audience on three sides." Words and art
Wednesday: EMPAC director Johannes Goebel will be giving a talk about words and art at EMPAC. "This talk will be many words about words to create a view of what is beyond that which is said." Wednesday 7 pm - free

Tiphanie Yanique and Jacinda Townsend
Thursday: Novelists Tiphanie Yanique and Jacinda Townsend will be at UAlbany as part of the NYS Writers Institute visiting writers series. Both released first novels this year -- Yanique's Land of Love and Drowning, a family saga set in the Virgin Islands; and Townsend's Saint Monkey, the tale of two best friends, ambitious African American girls, raised in hardship in rural Kentucky -- that have gotten good reviews. Thursday 8 pm, uptown campus, Performing Arts Center - free

New York realist
Saturday: The State Museum opens a new exhibit of work by realist painter Eugene Speicher, who was famous during the early part of the 20th century but is now little known. Speicher was from Buffalo and worked in Woodstock and New York City. Saturday exhibit tour 2 pm - free
