Drawing: Tickets for Albany Barn Fusion 2014

albany barn fusion 2014

Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

The Albany Barn's annual Fusion event -- and evening of urban art, architecture, fashion and food -- is this Friday, October 17 at the Barn. We have a pair of tickets and we're giving them away.

To enter, please answer this question in the comments:

If you could fuse two aspects of the Capital Region together, what would those two aspects be and what would it create?

You can interpret this however you like. An example: the region's history + your favorite restaurant = a menu inspired by what people ate here 350 years ago. Or whatever. We'll draw one winner at random.

Here's what's lined up for Fusion this year:

+ Custom couture, performances & art installations by regional artists
+ Creative cocktails and eats by Chopped champion Chef Ric Orlando featuring fresh, local ingredients and spirits from Albany Distilling Co.
+ Wine pairings provided by Empire Wine
+ Craft beer on tap from Druthers Brewing Co.
+ Decadent desserts by The Cookie Factory
+ Coffee bar by Stacks Espresso Bar
+ Jazz reception from 6-8pm with DJ J.Hill mixing up old time jazz and blues
+ DJs Space, Time, and Spacetime

Tickets are start at $75 each and they're available online.

Important: All comments must be submitted by 5 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by 10 pm on Tuesday and must respond by noon on Wednesday, October 15.

I'd love to combine a bike shop with either a brewery or a coffee shop - a place to hang out and have a drink but also inspire potential cyclists.

I would combine the many picturesque outdoor areas and fine restaurants to create pop up restaurants outside.

The view at Thacher overlook with New World's chipotle margarita

I would fuse a local craft beer hangout with an antiques store, featuring some locally-sourced wares.

Two aspects of the Capital Region that I would fuse together would be one of my favorite places with one of my favorite restaurants. I love Washington Park, especially the bridge. I think having a small dinner party catered by my favorite restaurant New World Bistro would be a wonderful way to combine two of Albany's greatest features!

I would love a fusion of Albany and the Hudson minus 787.

I'd fuse Downtown Albany and the waterfront! (I'd stick a couple of funky downtown Troy shops in there as well).

The two aspects of the Capital Region I would fuse together would be the shops of downtown Troy and the restaurants of Albany. Creating a unique downtown city experience of beautiful architecture, fantastic food, walkability and culture.

Fuse The north side of Hoosick Street to the south side of Hoosick Street in Troy. This would allow all those people who don't know how to use crosswalks to cross the road without getting smushed...and eliminate the road...

The farming history of the surrounding area and the Old English Pub: it would be like an early American farmhouse serving rustic Farm to Table style food in a cozy home, complete with fireplace.

Can I fuse downtown Albany with my quiet house with a backyard in the burbs?

Love Stacks on Lark St. for their coffee, and the new Cider Belly Doughnut on Broadway. Open a portal between the two, straight to my mouth. Boom. Stacks on my Belly.

@J-

Love the idea, I have often thought along the same lines.

I would take it one step farther though. I would like to fuse Schenectady's downtown along with Albany and Troy's. That way you also get Proctor's and the movie theater, as well as some great restaurants. Combining those three would make an awesome downtown for an area of this size- shopping, dining, and entertainment all in one place.

I would fuse Indian Ladder Farm with downtown Albany to have quicker access to cider doughnuts when I want them.

I'd combine fun things from Albany and fun things from Troy to give us more fun things to do in walking distance!

I would fuse Lark Street & Indian Ladder Farm so I can finally enjoy REAL hard cider :) While petting that adorable Oxen!

I'd love to see a combination of a used record shop like the last vestige and one of our cozy coffee shops. The result a comfortable place to get coffee while listening to and scoping out music! :)

I would fuse Saratoga and the waterfront of Albany.

The present and the past.

I would combine the overall Saratoga "feel": lazy Sundays, people strolling in the park, Caroline St, & Ravenous (crepe place)...with Albany's nightlife, restaurants, culture/art.

I wish the two existed in the same place, but lucky to have both in the Capital Region.

I would fuse the movies curated by the Spectrum Theater and the wine and ambiance of the Lucas Confectionary to make the perfect night out.

I would fuse Niskayuna bike path and Indian Ladder Farms

I would fuse the activity in Washington park with the Albany waterfront.

I would merge Troy into Albany's South End, right below the mansion district over by the DMV. That way we would have suny albany uptown, the RPI EMPAC downtown, and a greater sense of culture and community.

I'd fuse The Egg, a favorite place for a show, with Finnbar's Pub - perfect for a beer and a meal before or after...

Let's fuse blacktop to roads in Albany and fill all potholes.

I'd merge the atmosphere of downtown Saratoga with the center of downtown Albany. It would be so great to have that type of area to walk around in Albany.

fuse colonie center regal movie theater seats into Troy Savings Bank Music Hall - would create most comfortable music and variety show location around.

I would fuse downtown albany with the waterfront

The bike path to downtown Troy

I would love to fuse the local love for co-ops and farmers markets with the revitalization of Troy and create a solely vegetarian restaurant in the capital region! Homegrown in every sense!

I would fuse downtown Saratoga with downtown schenectady. Start the night off at Mexican radio and end it with a dough boy. Yea!

Downtown Troy and Lark St in Albany.

I'd fuse either Nosh, or Satti's to the old location of Joe's restaurant. Then i wouldn't have to travel far to get my delicious deli fix!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
