Getting some work done

Over at the Times Union, JCE has details on the proposed $13 million "face lift" for the TU Center's Pearl Street atrium, along with a rendering from the architecture firm that's apparently in the lead for the job. [TU]

Beyond sick & tired of senseless spending in Albany.
We need intrastructure sewer improvements for Madison Ave, and many other streets in this city!
This is the second convention center here.
Now they think a third one will be the charm, come on
taxpayers wake up 7 smell the coffee!

Wouldn't it be something if they incorporated a market like the Reading Terminal in Philadelphia?

A $13 million face lift is not going to make any more or less likely to go to an event at the TU Center.

The article touches on this, but one of the important aspects of the renovation is giving the arena more usable space, including more space for National Press, which could put the TUC in play for attracting more college tournaments (Hoops, hockey).

I won't speculate on whether or not $13M could be better spent elsewhere, but it's worth pointing out that this is more than just a cosmetic facade upgrade.

I think you have a point, "mg". We keep putting lipstick on the pig (but don't see any need to feed it).

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
