Wider horizon for Dark Sky
Some interesting news about Dark Sky, the popular and much praised weather forecasting app originally developed in Troy: The company is now partly owned by Applied Invention, which was founded by uber nerd Danny Hillis. In the announcement, Adam Grossman writes that Dark Sky will continue to be an independent company, but now it will be able to draw AI's engineers, data, and business people to grow the service. (He also includes one of the most honest assessments that you'll ever read of whether the company will flame out.)
