The Scoop
For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

I just saw it. Some Troy stuff you can look forward to seeing in it, if indeed it ever plays in the Capital District:
- Price Chopper
- the Confectionary
- that retirement home that looks futuristic. The circular one. You know the one I'm talking about.
- Lots and lots of locals in every supporting role. It was awesome to hear that very particular accent fill the hall of the Holiday 3 in Park City over and over again.
- A bakery I couldn't identify.
- Famous Lunch, pretty explicitly
- Albany Med
- Lake George is mentioned roughly one million times, but never accurately shown.
The film itself was trippy and I liked it, although as someone who has booked movies in Albany, I would not hold my breath for it to light up a silver screen there any time soon.
If I had a particular Troy vibe to ascribe to the movie - bear with me for a minute for some deep Capital Region stuff - it's IEAR. Do you remember IEAR? It was the predecessor to EMPAC, sort of RPI's warm-up course to "difficult" art. The more artsy/psychedelic parts of the movie remind me of IEAR projects from way back when.
Behind SCENT OF A WOMAN and THE AGE OF INNOCENCE, it's definitely my third favorite movie shot in Troy.
Out of a pool of six movies set but not necessarily filmed in the area (off the top of my head), it's probably number five. One spot ahead of (DIS)ORIENTED.
There's a couple of great older Blonde Redhead songs on the soundtrack. I heard that they played the premiere party, which I didn't make it to. If DeFazio's catered that party though, man oh man, I would have been there with bells on. Sundance is truly lacking in DeFazio's.

Mike, I do know that retirement home you are talking about: Kennedy Towers. There is just one tower, but its name is plural. 2100 6th Ave, across from the main fire station.
