In what is a delightful cartographic quirk, the closest city to the exact opposite side of the world from Albany, New York is Albany, Western Australia.

And, as it happens, we occasionally get email, web searches, whatever intended for that other Albany.

Recently AOA has been getting included in Twitter mentions for photos of the down under Albany. So we thought it'd be fun to get a look at that place as it heads into winter...

Though winter is a relative term -- the other Albany's "soft winters" includes highs in the 60s.

The photographer who's been posting these photos on Twitter is David Ashley, who's based in Perth, which a bit to the north of Albany on the Western Australia coast.

I hope people in DUA look at pictures from here and want to relocate. I'd welcome a few more Australian accents in our mix.
