"Escape to the man in prison presents a soluble problem."
In the coverage of the escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora this week, it's occasionally mentioned that it's the first escape in the long history of the prison (the facility was first established in 1845). But as Michael Schwirtz and Michael Winerip detail over at the NYT, there have been multiple escapes from the prison -- including episodes in which an inmate dug a tunnel, and another in which an inmate walked out the main gate while wearing civilian clothes.
