Contractor for a tub replacement?

shower water knobM emails:

I'm looking for a contractor and/or plumber who can remove a bathtub and replace it with a walk-in shower, grab bars and other safety features for a senior citizen.

Sometimes the first step is just figuring out what sort of contractor you're looking for. So, in this case, we're curious if this a job that can be handled solely by a plumber, or if it's a job that would require someone more along the lines of a general construction/remodeling contractor.

It definitely requires more than a plumber, assuming the walk-in shower is to be tiled. A good tiler with basic plumbing skills would be a better fit than a plumber alone.

David, the owner of Platinum Remodeling did a fantastic job on my bathroom. He's great at tiling and was fair, honest and direct. I recommended him to a friend and she had great things to say as well. His direct line is 518-366-9410. I definitely recommend, I will be using him for any other future jobs.

We used Greg Mueller for our shower replacement which was tiled both inside the shower and the walls/floors around the bathroom. They did an outstanding job for a pretty reasonable price.

He works just he and his son... really nice guy who took the time to explain things to us and answer all of our questions (which we had a LOT of!).

His # is 518-673-2507

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
