A new level for the Stockade?
Over at the Daily Gazette, Bethany Bump looks at how Irene flooding, and anxiety about future floods, has affected the section of the Stockade in Schenectady along the river -- the cost of flood insurance is rising steeply, and there's worry the homes there will become financially unsustainable. A potential fix? Raising the homes above the flood plain -- but that plan would need approval from the Schenectady Historic District Commission, and it's prompted concern about historic preservation and maintaining the feel of the neighborhood.
