Upstate State

Two things to about the latest upstate-downstate secession push: 1) "New Amsterdam" is probably not the best name to pick for the non-NYC portion of the state. 2) Would large portions of upstate -- especially Albany down to the NYC suburbs -- really rather be aligned with the Southern Tier instead of NYC? (And, of course, #3: This isn't going to happen.) [Politics on the Hudson] Earlier: What if Upstate New York and Downstate New York were separate states?

May I humbly suggest we revert to the original line of secession of Vermont, that being all the lands north of Lansingburg and east of the Hudson River?

As to the rest of upstate, what's wrong with the Iroquois Nation? Oh, wait, you want to secede from NY, not from the US... :)

Disclaimer: Komrade lives just north of Lansingburgh.

On second thought, can we just apply for annexation by Canada?

So this is the southern tier rallying mainly about fracking and guns.

Let's let PA have them. Maybe give it a 20 year trial period and revisit. With natural gas production, fireworks sales, and complete lack of infrastructure investment, they should be fine.
