Drawing: Albany Barn Fusion 2015

albany barn fusion 2015 logo

The Albany Barn's annual Fusion event -- which brings together art, food, and music -- is October 16. We have a pair of "catalyst" tickets for Fusion. And they could be your tickets for the event.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

If you could "fuse" any two elements from the Capital Region together, what would they be -- and what would they create?

You can interpret however you'd like -- fuse together two different places, fuse together an idea and a place, fuse an event with an idea, whatever. We asked a similar question last year for this drawing and the were some fun answers, so we're looking forward to what bubbles up this year.

Here's what's lined up for Fusion this year:

+ Open studios, performances & live art by artists in residence
+ Creative cocktails and eats by Chef Mark Graham
+ Wine pairings from Empire Wine
+ Craft brews from Druthers
+ Desserts by The Cookie Factory
+ Pour over coffee bar by Stacks Espresso Bar
+ Live jazz with Bryan Brundige Trio from 6 - 7 pm
+ Deejays Space, Time, & Spacetime from 7 pm to...

Tickets are $75 and available online. Catalyst tickets -- the tickets in this drawing -- are $125 each or $200 for a couple, and include limited-edition Albany Barn glassware with signature cocktail, valet parking, and trolley transport between parking and the event.

Important: All comments must be submitted by noon on Friday, October 9, 2015 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by 5 pm on Friday and must respond by 5 pm on Monday, October 12.

AOA is a media sponsor of Albany Barn Fusion.

Washington Park + food trucks (not just for special events)

Apple picking and watching a film at the Spectrum

The Egg and The Joe - All the fabulousness of The Egg, but open on top to see the fireworks!

The craft beer menu options from Bier Abbey or Beer Belly paired with pizza from Kay's - and then followed by dessert from New World Bistro!

sailing and skiing = iceboating

Tulip Festival and Lights in the Park would make for an interesting "fusion" if we could alter the laws of nature...

Winter and soft serve ice cream. It shouldn't just be available during the summer!

I'd love to have somewhere with great food options late at night. Maybe some food trucks on Lark Street.

Cider donuts and snow storm. Donut storm. To my mouth.

PearlPalooza and Saratoga for an awesome day of racing and music (and hopefully at some point a team of horses pulling a stagecoach ridden by a musician playing a flamethrowing guitar a la Mad Max).

I'd like to fuse Albany's deep history with it's great potential in the future (while skipping the whole building of 787, etc. in the middle).

I would fuse together both Crossgates Mall and Colonie Center to make one Mega Mall. I have favorite stores at both so having them under the same roof would be great.

Fuse Lark Street and Pearl Street/Broadway so all the best bars in Albany would be within walking distance of one another!

the spectrum theater and albany pump station.

I would fuse the waterfront/Corning Preserve with downtown Albany, eliminating 787! Thus creating an awesome downtown, where people actually hang out after work/on weekends.

I would fuze apple cider donuts with raspberry melba sauce! Can someone make this happen, actually?!

Empire State Plaza pools + tubing= bumper boats on the plaza.

Downtown Albany + Downtown Troy = one big downtown that has lots of shops, restaurants and businesses

I would fuse crossgates and Colnie center with the Empire State plaza and the waterfront, and then I'd fuse Clifton park with Albany and we would create a vibrant rich equitable city-area in which to live life. I would then return Clifton park and wolf road back to their natural states! Proper prior planning instead of random hideous suburban development leaving gutted out cities!

I would fuse Albany with Saratoga. It would be so nice to be able to go out in Saratoga for the night and come home without driving!

North Broadway in Albany and Lark St

I would fuse Amtrak with the Northway so we could have a light rail line from lets say Lake George to Albany.

I would fuse Washington park and the shops and walkability in Downtown Troy to make myself a perfect neighborhood.

I would fuse the Department of Transportation and The New York State Thruway Authority because two agencies doing the same thing aren't necessary.

local talent from open mic to church choirs to bands, food, and goods at two seasonal festivals with stage shows fall and spring at Bleeker Stadium and great cdta festival buses with special schedule for festival goers.

I would fuse the momentum Downtown Troy has with South Troy. Especially the waterfront.

warm cider donuts and cold pumpkin beer, perfect fall pairing!

Lucas Confectionery, Bingo, Pedicures and Bake For You...
Make it Happen...

I would fuse the vibe/restaurants/bars of downtown troy with the Lark street are...that would make for some great nightlife!

Wolff's Oystergarten = Oysters, beer, and soccer?! Let's go!

renting + vehicles = RelayRides (not allowed here for same poor reason that Uber, Lyft, etc. aren't)

science + altruism = effective altruism center here, in between the ones in San Fran and UK

Bros Tacos and my mouth... To make bliss. Are they ever coming back??

Live music and apple picking.

Our local homeless plus a warm bed this winter.

Connect people to the water - fuse albany with its waterfront by Tunneling 787 and connect people commerce and nature with the river with walkable bikable blue trails through the city that incorporate art

I would fuse the Dunn Memorial bridge, 787 and I90 with light rail and get some of our cars off the road.

Downtown Troy with the rest of Troy. Troy has so many great and potentially great neighborhoods that seem to be (still) getting ignored. Meanwhile downtown improvements are still incentivized. Broadening the focus, in scope and scale, could do a lot for the entire city. Not talking about making all of troy like downtown troy, just bringing focus and community enhancements where they are needed; downtown seems to be doing fine.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
