Over at the Biz Review Mike DeMasi got a look at one of the until-now-undisclosed proposals for the former Albany convention center land that (apparently) has been passed over -- the $172 milllion proposal included a 48-story tower with 300 apartment units. A principal for one of the firms behind the proposal also casts doubt (or is it just shade from that enormous tower) on the huge mystery project slated for the site that's part of the Capital Region's Upstate Revitalization Initiative bid. We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

"The principals at Open Atelier Architects said there are fundamental problems with the size, cost and scope of the mysterious developer's plans. They said it would require buildings that are eight- to 12-stories high on every block up to the property line." I don't see how this is a drawback. What they're describing sounds like a real urban neighborhood, unlike this hideous thin tower surrounded by...what exactly? Nothing in this proposal sounds like it would benefit the city in any way.
