rUNDEAD 5k

rundead logoThere are so many 5k races now -- colorful, inflatable, and so on -- but the info for the rUNDEAD 5K at Saratoga Spa State Park this Saturday, a benefit for Special Olympics New York, made us smile.

The twist for this race is that it's zombies chasing after people with tasty brains. As an organizer mentioned to us, "You can be a runner or a zombie, depending on your mood." (There will also be members of "the CDC" there to keep the zombies in check.)

Further blurbage:

Will You Survive?
Each runner will start off with a flag belt and three flags. These flags represent your lifelines. Zombies throughout the course will be attempting to take these one at a time. If you lose all three, you're dead and the zombies have won.
Individuals who raise 100 dollars or more will receive two additional flags as lifelines for the course the day of the event. These lifelines will increase your chance at survival and your opportunity to win one of our great prizes. ...
The Zombies
Running races not your thing? Be a zombie! Each zombie will be transformed in our "Mob Tent" the day of the event from 8:00am to 9:30am. Bring your own attire and let us make you into the undead.

Also noted: "All zombies this year will be walker or crawler zombies for a more authentic zombie experience. Walker zombies will not be able to bend their knees while roaming around our outbreak zone."

The rUNDEAD 5k is Saturday Sunday, October 25 at Saratoga Spa State Park. Pre-registration is $30 to be a runner or zombie / $35 day of.

It should be free to be a zombie.

The race is Sunday, October 25th.
And the link appears to not be working.

Editors: Thanks for catching the day. It's fixed. And we just tried the link and it worked OK (though it was a bit slow to load).

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
