Albany Med / Saratoga Hospital affiliation
Saratoga Hospital and Albany Medical Center have announced an affiliation. Albany Med's CEO, James Barba, says rather than Albany Med "swooping in" or rescuing, "What we're doing is we're being, if you will, neighbor to neighbor.". The move is being explained in part as an attempt to hold off potential takeovers from larger hospitals from cities outside of the Capital Region. [TU][TWCN][WNYT][Gazette]

Peter Young COO heads to jail
The former COO of the Peter Young Housing, Industries and Treatment will spend 90 days in jail for claiming $600 thousand in grants were planned to be used at a downstate drug treatment center when the money was actually used to fund programs upstate. Jacquelyn Gentile also resigned as COO.[TWCN][Gazette][WNYT]

Mahan/Benedict debate
Among the issues discussed in Tuesday's debate between Colonie supervisor Paula Mahan and Republican challenger Christine Benedict: the town landfill, the number of officers allowed in the police department, road conditions and the IDA.[TU]

Spa city crime claims
The four month old super PAC that calls itself Saratoga PAC is blaming Public Safety Commissioner Chris Mathiesen for what it calls a "Violent Crime Spike" in the spa city, but does not mention that total reported crime in the city dropped from 2014.[TU]

Veterans buy back bill vetoed
Andrew Cuomo has again vetoed a bill that would have allowed the Veterans buy back bill that would have allowed state and municipal pension credits to veterans for peacetime military service. [TU]

Export-Import Bank
A House of Representatives vote to reauthorize the U. S. Export-Import Bank is a victory for GE, but may come to late to save Schenectady jobs. [TU]

GE Hudson Falls headed to Clearwater soon
GE will wrap up the transfer of work at its Hudson Falls facility to a facility in Clearwater Florida by January 23. [TWCN]
