Counting and not counting

Over at the Post-Star, Kathleen Moore explains why, based on her experience watching absentee votes counted, she'll never note by absentee ballot. "Why? Because I knew if I went to the polls, my vote would count. I can make no such guarantee about absentee ballots." [Post-Star]

Hm, she brings up one good point I'm curious about. The signature in the book when I go to vote is apparently what I signed when I got my learner's permit over 20 years ago. It's definitely changed. Can it be updated?

On a related note. As an ex- dirty, socialist foreigner voting for the first time, it boggled my mind that I was not asked for an ID.

On the other hand, many races are becoming closer and closer. I've participated in several elections where my absentee ballot indeed was a deciding factor in a close election. Fortunately, I followed the instructions and completed my ballot correctly.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
