"A Visit from St. Nicholas" bits
The State Library has gathered together a bunch of materials about "A Visit from St. Nicholas" -- first published in the Troy Sentinel in 1823, as you know -- and the dispute over who actually authored it. The materials are in an exhibit at the library and online (see that link above).
The exhibit also includes bits from the trial in Troy the last two years that contested the poem's authorship. (Sadly, we hear that the holiday socks worn by E. Stewart Jones during those trials -- which are now in the state's collection -- are not part of the exhibit.)
