Hot wings

Farther afield: Two Syracuse-area men are accused of plot in which it's alleged they stole $41k of (presumably uncooked) chicken wings from a restaurant and then sold them to other establishments. Said an Onondaga County DA to the Post-Standard: "It's actually kind of funny that there's a black market for chicken wings ... But the demand is that high." Man opens trench coat, "Psssst, you interested in some premium chicken wings?"

You've got to wonder about the integrity of the "other establishments" that buy their food from a couple of guys off the "back of a pickup truck or from a warehouse." According to the article, it's a somewhat common practice.

Restaurant Owner: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
County DA: I'm shocked... shocked to find stolen chicken wings on sale in there.
Server: Your twelve boxes of chicken wings to go, sir.
County DA: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much. [Aloud] Everybody out.
