Bowl Me Over speed dating

This sounds like it could be a fun twist on the speed dating concept: The Albany Singles & Social Meetup group has a "Bowl Me Over" speed dating event set for Uncle Sam Lanes in Troy this Saturday, January 16.

Explains organizer Josy Smith in a message to us:

Half the lanes at Uncle Sam's will be dedicated to the event. The ladies will be stationary & the gentlemen will rotate. The "speed" part will be in that no more than half a game (5 frames) will be bowled.
This will ensure there's both no pressured rush, and no long drawn out full length game. The event will also be to "midnight bowling" atmosphere; dimmer lights and music (but not too loud so as to detract from getting to know your partner).
There will also be dedicated waitstaff for food/drink service during the event.

Any speed dating situation is probably going to feel a bit odd/forced/something. But having something to actively do while you're getting a sense of a person sounds like it could be a good idea -- maybe it makes things a little more relaxed and fun.

The bowling starts at 8:30 pm on Saturday. The cover charge is $5. There will be drink specials and, during the first hour, free finger foods.

Thanks SO MUCH for the post!

As much as I'd love to take full credit for this ingenious idea, that honor goes to Eric Gibson; the Founder/Creator of the Albany Singles & Social Meet Up group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1474886099507511/.

I'm a co-organizer (there are 5 admins total), and will definitely be in attendance at the event. We're really looking forward to it! Of all the events our group has hosted, this one seems to be gaining the most steam.

At last... My mad bowling skills will come in handy.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
