Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail update

Albany County has a public meeting Tuesday (January 12) evening in Voorheesville to update what's going on with construction of the Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail, which now paved from South Pearl Street in Albany to Veterans Park in Delmar (trail map). "At the session we will provide an update on the rail trail and address questions from the public on the future of this tremendous community asset." The meeting is at the Cornell Cooperative Extension (24 Martin Road) at 6 pm.

Delmar: Prepare to be invaded!

Over the past year(ish) I've been noticing them dismantle the rails and then create the trail here whenever I drove over it on the thruway. I saw people walking on the trail just over the weekend. From the trail map it looks like the only parking is in Delmar with none on the Albany City side. I had always figured there would be some sort of small lot near the Port or something.

I can't seem to determine what the surface of the trail is. Is it paved or more like a crushed stone? Anyone?

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
