Martin Luther King Jr Day

It's Monday, of course. The Empire State Plaza Convention Center will be hosting the annual MLK Day Memorial Observance. This year's keynote speaker is Reverend Dr. John G. Moore Sr. And there will be a performance by Grammy-winning gospel singer Dorinda Clark-Cole, as well as other artists. Monday 9:30 am - free

Stories

Monday: The Front Parlor storytelling series will be at The Olde English in Albany. This month's theme is "My First Time." Monday 7:30 pm

Cinderella

Tuesday-Sunday: A touring production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella will be at Proctors for the week. Blurbage: "This lush production features an incredible orchestra, jaw-dropping transformations and all the moments you love--the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and more--plus some surprising new twists!" Tuesday-Sunday various times - $20 and up

UAlbany men
Monday: The UAlbany men's basketball team takes on Binghamton at SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes are 3-1 in the America East this season. Monday 7 pm - $12 and up

Siena men
Thursday: The Siena men's basketball team takes on Rider at the TU Center. The Saints have four active players average double digit points. Thursday 7 pm - $10 and up

UAlbany women
Thursday: The UAlbany women's basketball team faces Stony Brook at SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes' Shereesha Richards is one of the nation's leading scorers at more than 24 points a game. (She just had 34 points against Maine.) Thursday 7 pm - $5 and up

Hockey

Wednesday: The Albany Devils face off with Hartford at the TU Center. Wednesday 7 pm - $17 and up

Shakes-BEER

Thursday: The Collar City Players will be at Rare Form Brewing in Troy for an open group reading of Henry V. Blurbage: "A brewery for a stage, drinkers to act, and Shakespeare fans to behold. Then should your warlike M.C. Matt, like himself, assume the port of mars (and stand by the door,) as he leads you through one of Shakespeare's greatest histories: Henry V. Roles will be read, prizes will be awarded, and beers will be drunk." Thursday sign up for roles starts at 6 pm / roles assigned at 6:30 pm / reading starts at 6:45
